The receiver stub is the front portion of the receiver where the barrel screws in that is left over from when the original upper receiver was destroyed by cutting it into three pieces. Neither of the R1 kits required this step, but the StG58 kit came with the receiver stub still on the barrel. Still……I bought mine about 30 years ago and seemed to have lost the op manual. Where a part was labeled it was sometimes difficult to find it in the text. Not many exploded parts diagrams and they were not labeled per part. Most of the pictures lost detail because of incorrect exposure.
